Dua Lipa denies firing agent over pro-Israel views amid Kneecap controversy

Pop superstar Dua Lipa denies firing agent David Levy over alleged pro-Israel views, pushing back against reports that claimed she cut ties with him after his attempt to stop Irish rap group Kneecap from performing at Glastonbury. The story, originally reported by the Daily Mail, has since been widely disputed by both Lipa and her agency WME.

The origin of the controversy

The controversy began when reports surfaced alleging that Levy was dropped after signing a letter urging Glastonbury organizers to remove Kneecap from the lineup due to their pro-Palestinian views.

The Daily Mail claimed this was the reason behind the supposed rift. However, both Lipa and WME quickly labeled the story as “categorically false,” emphasizing that Levy had not been part of Lipa’s direct team since 2019.

Dua Lipa responds to the claims

Dua Lipa issued a statement on Instagram strongly rejecting the story.

“I do not condone the actions of David Levy or other music executives toward an artist speaking their truth,” Lipa wrote. “But the story itself was completely false and crafted in a deliberately inflammatory way to fuel online division.”

She further criticized the press for exploiting sensitive political issues:

“It is always Free Palestine, but exploiting a global tragedy in order to sell newspapers is something I find deeply troubling.”

WME issues clarification

WME, Lipa’s talent agency, also released a statement confirming the singer’s timeline. They explained that Levy had been involved with Lipa in an advisory role only until earlier this year, before moving on to other projects.

They clarified that reports suggesting he was fired because of political differences were not only misleading but factually inaccurate.

Kneecap and the Glastonbury debate

Kneecap’s performance at Glastonbury was already surrounded by controversy. Political figures had called for the group to be dropped, citing their outspoken support for Palestinian causes.

During their set, the Belfast rap trio led the crowd in chants of “Free Palestine” and criticized UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The BBC initially dropped a live stream of their performance due to these political statements, though it was later restored on iPlayer with minimal edits.

One member of the group, Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh, also faces a terrorism-related charge for allegedly displaying a Hezbollah flag at a previous gig — a charge he denies, claiming the flag was thrown on stage and picked up without knowledge of what it represented.

Lipa’s own stance on Gaza

Dua Lipa has long been vocal about her stance on Gaza and the Israel-Palestine conflict. In May, she condemned Israeli airstrikes on displacement camps in southern Gaza:

“Burning children alive can never be justified,” she wrote on Instagram.

She also signed an open letter alongside celebrities such as Benedict Cumberbatch, Riz Ahmed, and Gary Lineker, urging the UK government to end arms sales to Israel and to stop what they described as “complicity in war crimes.”

Media manipulation and online narratives

The singer highlighted the dangerous role of misinformation and sensationalism in fueling division. She stressed that while she disagreed with Levy’s actions toward Kneecap, the framing of the story was intentionally misleading.

The Daily Mail has since updated its coverage, correcting earlier claims that Levy was Lipa’s current manager. In reality, her father, Dukagjin Lipa, has been managing her career since 2022.

Wider implications for the music industry

This dispute reflects broader tensions in the music industry, where artists and managers are increasingly caught between political controversy and public activism. As movements such as “Free Palestine” gain visibility, artists like Lipa have become high-profile voices for humanitarian causes.

The incident also highlights how misinformation can spiral quickly, damaging reputations before facts are clarified.

Ultimately, Dua Lipa denies firing agent David Levy over pro-Israel views, making clear that the two have not worked together in years. While she opposed his stance on Kneecap, she condemned the way the media twisted the situation into a false narrative for clicks and division.

As her influence grows, Lipa continues to use her platform to call for peace in Gaza and amplify humanitarian concerns — while standing firm against media misrepresentation.

  1. She did the right job as she is a star but still she supports Palestine there is no need to come up openly on it because it can be dangerous for her and she can get threats.
